NAMI Multicultural Symposium

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Kern County is set to host its first annual Multicultural Symposium on Tuesday, August 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hodel’s Country Dining.

Healthcare providers, local agencies and community members will come together to discuss diversity and the importance of inclusivity in mental health care.

“This Symposium is a wonderful opportunity to shine a light on all the impactful work NAMI Kern is doing in this are to support those impacted by mental health challenges,” said Vice President of Community Engagement for NAMI California, Marshea Pratt. “We are hopeful this event will strengthen existing partnerships and inspire new collaborations between County and community-based organizations who are committed to providing support and resources all year for Kern County residents.”

The event’s theme "Mental Health for All,” represents NAMI Kern County and their efforts to support and welcome anyone impacted by mental illness. The event is free to the public and includes guest speakers, panel discussions, and lunch for those who register. Attendees will have the opportunity to join in engaging group discussions, and listen to speeches from esteemed members of the community. Speakers will also include those with lived mental health experiences.
